The transition from childhood to adulthood is a critical period in which young adolescents have the opportunity to make decisions based on their own judgments away from parental influence. The development towards adulthood for teenagers poses a wide range of risky and harmful actions that constitute a threat to their well-being. These behaviors may impact their well-being in a negative way both physically and emotionally depending on what decisions they choose to make. Sexual activity may not itself be a risky behavior, but to young adolescents engaging in this activity may present serious consequences to their health and well-being.
